Winter is nearly upon us and with that brings the return of the Migration of the Humpback and Southern Right Whales. All the tour operators have arrived and commenced tours last week and numbers of booked tours have been encouraging for the early start. All of these visitors will travel in and out of the town and many will enjoy a walk around town, lunch, purchase gifts or mementos and some will stay overnight or a few days.
The whale season helps to lengthen the visitation period to our town and many businesses have reported this has helped to soften the big dips of trade that a quieter period brings.
The Whale Song Festival (an extension of Blessing of the Fleet) is on over the weekend 31st May – 3rd June with a great line up for the weekend. Congratulations and thanks go to the Augusta CRC and volunteers. We live in a great little town and I continue to hear from visitors how welcoming and friendly the town is, this is hard to achieve in bigger busier towns and it is a very big positive for us.
We are a great community!
